Cathay Pacific Airways (www.cathaypacific.com) has redefined in-flight shopping by introducing the “Beyond Duty Free Program.” Prices for the items purchased from antique dealers in France for resale aboard Cathay Pacific flights range from $1,000 for the Hermes clocks to $15,000 for the 19th-century Louis Vuitton trunks and the all-time inflight sales record of $25,000 for a Rolex Explorer II – actor Steve McQueen’s favorite. The airline says that due to the program’s success, it is now working to acquire additional items and will extend the program into the summer.
